Waterproofing of swimming pools

Lifetime and operation of swimming pool depend on type and material of waterproofing. The most popular design of swimming pool is concrete structure with tiles covering. Waterproofing of this type of pools is complicated due to big amount of different piping and also because of additional cement covering after completing waterproof layer.

Liquid rubber is a suitable material for waterproofing of swimming pools, as tiles can be applied directly on waterproofing layer.

Use of liquid rubber does not limit design possibilities as per shape of the pool.

We made waterproofing of the first swimming pool in 2003. Since that time we do not have any claims or request for repair. Liquid rubber cannot be damaged by oxidants (such as chlorine, ozone) due to its strength to chemicals. Liquid rubber can stay even in the hydrochloric acid.

When constructing swimming pools – waterproofing is the main problem, when you resolve it you can have not less than 50% of success.

This problem becomes more complicated when designing pools over other facilities.

Liquid rubber provides both internal and external protection of swimming pool against water:

— Protection of supporting structures from corrosion and damage;
— Protection of finishing coatings of the pool from destruction and peel off;
— Protection from water losses;
— Protection from ground water.

It is possible to use GPSpraykote® color without further application of tiles or mosaic.

Waterproofing of swimming pool using liquid rubber

1. Base of swimming pool – reinforced concrete, cement coating;
2. Cast in elements – metal, plastic;
3. Priming — GPSpraykote® without catalyst;
4. Waterproofing coating — GPSpraykote® 2-component with catalyst;
5. Tile glue – tile glue, Glassbond type;
6. Finishing coating – tiles, mosaic.
